It's nearly that time of year...

As I sit here with only the tree lights for illumination on this grey and gloomy day I think back fondly to this time last year when the world had been white, cold and crisp for several weeks already. Today I am in a t-shirt and still feel warmer than I would like.
I have finished all the knitting that I was doing to give as gifts, I only have one piece of work left to do for my diploma and have decided that can wait until after the festivities. No-one else is up, the house is dressed up as if waiting for the party to start and I feel...peaceful yet restless, happy yet in quiet moments my heart aches a little...life is changing.

Our tree this year...
...finally Santa goes on the top.
hat and legwarmers that I made for Rosalind's birthday...how can she be two already!?
the annual gingerbread house village! being made...

Lorna's concentration face!

adding the snow and frost! (icing sugar and edible glitter!!)
 the finished product!
 talking bunny down!
the tree!

At the start of this post I was feeling wistful and rather melancholic...after putting the photos of the gingerbread village and the tree I am feeling more cheerful! So my work here may be done!
Dear hubby will be home tonight for the holidays so let the festivities begin!

  1. Awwwww, glad you feel better for putting pen to paper, or finger to keyboard. It is the time of year to sit back, remember & reflect on everything we have that's good in life. I think your Gingerbread village & villagers is a good representation of love & life that surronds you (apart maybe from bunny ;-)) and to have made it as a family is so lovely & special!
Big hugs to the ponderer xxx
